The fictional parts of the movie that are not part of the Book of Acts are somewhat educational for historicity, era, culture, and context surrounding the time that Acts took place, especially the political settings leading up to the destruction of Jerusalem and the Jewish Temple in 70 A.D., and as they are based on historical works (such as Philo of Alexandria, Tacitus of Rome, Flavius Josephus, Eusebius, etc...).
One must remember, however, that some Western filmmakers cannot help mix their own Western culture into their "Middle-Eastern" films (which is truly sad).
One must also remember that Scripture is the only source of truth. Movies made by men will always contain lies and biases. And no matter how large or small the lies, they can do damage if believed.
May our Father in Heaven and the Lord Jesus Christ bless you in your endeavors to learn of His Way more thoroughly by the study of the Scriptures -The only source of REAL truth.
What the back of the DVD box says:
From the Producer of Jesus of Nazareth, a compelling film dramatizing the trials and triumph of the early Church. The Book of Acts comes alive in this epic covering the years 30-69 A.D.
Filmed on location in the Middle East and Europe, A.D. vividly depicts the rising confrontation between the mighty Roman Empire, Jewish zealots, and early Christians. Painstakingly researched by award-winning producer Vincenzo Labella, this compelling mini-series blends Biblical narrative with historic incidents and engaging fictional characters. Rejoice with Christ's disciples at Pentecost, and cry with them at the stoning of Stephen. Watch the Church grow - Saul is dramatically converted, Peter performs wonders, an Philip baptizes the Ethiopian. Witness the barbarous treatment of Christians at the hands of Roman leaders, and finally, marvel at the great triumph of the Church, despite persecution and the martyrdom of Peter and Paul.

The 70 week prophecy of Daniel
Of all the controversial topics found in the Bible, none other has been so abused or misunderstood than the prophecy known as Daniel's 70 Weeks. There is no other Messianic prophecy that so perfectly foretells the coming of Christ and the year of His baptism and crucifixion. Daniel's 70 weeks is actually not that difficult to understand and current historical information makes it relatively easy to get accurate dates.
Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

9 So God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them: "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. 2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be on every beast of the earth, on every bird of the air, on all that move on the earth, and on all the fish of the sea. They are given into your hand.
Daniel 9:22
;And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give you skill and understanding. 23 At the beginning of your supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to show you; for you are greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.
